Death of sports writer and Old Member, Andrew Longmore (Modern History, 1972)
We are sad to report that Old Member Andrew Longmore, who retired as a sports writer for The Sunday Times last year, died in his sleep on April 11, aged 65. He had been on a walking holiday with his wife Jane in Menton, France.
Andrew covered a wide range of sports, including horseracing, athletics, football and rowing. In 2003 he was the Sports Journalists Association's feature writer of the year. He was educated at Winchester and read modern history at Worcester College (1972).
The funeral for Andrew, who is survived by his wife and two daughters, Anna and Jessica, a son, David, and two grandchildren, will be private. A memorial service is planned for later in the year.
