Provost appointed Chair of the Henry Moore Foundation

David Isaac CBE, Provost of Worcester College, has today been announced as the new Chair of the Henry Moore Foundation from December 2024.

In addition to his role as Provost, and Chair of University of the Arts London, David brings a wealth of experience from his career in law, public service, philanthropy and the arts. He chaired Modern Art Oxford for nearly two decades and served as a Trustee of 14-18 Now, which led the country’s artistic response to the commemoration of World War One with key projects such as the Tower of London poppies installation. David will succeed Sir Nigel Carrington as Chair of the Board of Trustees, who is stepping down after ten years of dedicated service.

I am honoured to be appointed Chair of the Henry Moore Foundation. Henry Moore’s work has left an indelible mark on the world of sculpture, and I am excited to contribute to the Foundation’s mission of bringing the power and significance of sculpture to wider and more diverse audiences.
David Isaac CBE

Godfrey Worsdale, Director of the Henry Moore Foundation, said: ‘David’s exceptional leadership across a range of sectors, combined with his passion for the arts and commitment to promoting equality, makes him an outstanding choice to guide the Foundation into its next chapter. I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to advance Henry Moore’s legacy and champion sculpture worldwide.’

As Chair of the Henry Moore Foundation, David will steer the organisation in its mission to support ground-breaking sculpture projects, continue its international exhibitions programme, and further Moore’s legacy in the global art community.

At Worcester, David has championed sculpture in the gardens. Henry Moore’s Reclining Figure (1982) was unveiled in 2023, on loan from the Foundation thanks to the generous support of the Barrie and Deedee Wigmore Foundation. This sculpture has since been joined by a Nigel Hall bronze on the Nuffield Lawn, adding to the beauty and variety of the College grounds.
