Provost awarded Honorary Fellowship in Cambridge
Provost David Isaac CBE has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by St Catharine’s College, Cambridge.
The College’s Governing Body award Honorary Fellowships to individuals who have excelled and led in their field. David Isaac is a solicitor who specialised in advising clients on contract law matters and acted for HM Government and many FTSE 100 and 250 companies. Before joining Worcester, David chaired the Equality and Human Rights Commission, the LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall, and Modern Art Oxford. He was also a director of the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, the Human Dignity Trust, the Big Lottery and 14-18 NOW. Alongside his duties as Provost, he is currently Chair of Governors at University of the Arts London and a trustee of Cumberland Lodge.
David was inducted alongside two other Honorary Fellows: the space scientist Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock and the conservationist Professor William Sutherland.
Dr River Chen, Fellow and Chair of the EDI Working Group at St Catharine’s, celebrated David’s admission. ‘David has an impressive track record of advancing equality, diversity and inclusion, and working with organisations to make a positive impact on communities across the UK,’ said Dr Chen. ‘I am delighted that he is bringing such expertise and experience to St Catharine’s.’
St Catharine’s is Worcester’s sister college in Cambridge and the two institutions share many values, objectives and people – including current Master Sir John Benger who read for his DPhil on sixteenth-century radical Protestant literature at Worcester. More recently, Director of College Music Caius Lee joined us from St Catharine’s and Emeritus Professor of Composition Robert Saxton was made an Honorary Fellow in 2015.
