Learning Development Officer is top of the class

We are delighted to announce the success of our Learning Development Officer, Rea Duxbury, in her recently completed Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

Rea joined Worcester in 2020 as our first Learning Development Officer, a post generously funded by the Dorset Trust. Her role is to support an inclusive learning environment in College through the provision of study skills training and the promotion of inclusive pedagogy. Alongside her work at Worcester, Rea recently completed her PGCert at Oxford’s Centre for Teaching & Learning. The CTL recognised her outstanding work with the PGCert Portfolio Prize for the highest mark in the teaching portfolio submission.

Describing her research, Rea says:

“My portfolio explored how self-regulation, academic literacies and decolonial practice can further teaching and learning in higher education. The portfolio included student evaluation of study skills teaching, a course review of the University of Bristol’s MOOC ‘Decolonising Education: From Theory to Practice’, and a module design centred on teaching ‘Contemporary movements to decolonise in the UK’ through an academic literacies lens.”
