Three projects supported by inaugural Wigmore Research Fund awards
Congratulations to the students and staff who have made successful applications to the first round of Worcester’s Wigmore Research Fund this year.
Launched in 2024 by our Joint Heads of Research, the Wigmore Research Fund is the first of its kind and is designed to support research-related projects which explore new methods and novel research avenues. Through cross-disciplinary intersections and practical support, the Wigmore Fund supports Worcester members to develop ideas and to enhance our research culture and environment within College.
The scheme is open to any colleague at Worcester College who is engaged in research, including DPhil candidates and those employed on fixed-term contracts. The awards are designed to give priority to early career researchers and junior academics. Three projects were successful in this first funding round:
- Worcester x AI – Dr Janine Gühler, College Lecturer in Philosophy
- Researching Charlemagne – Martina Carandino, DPhil candidate, and Professor Conrad Leyser, Fellow & Tutor in History
- The Komnenoi and their Legacy – Dr Maximilian Lau, Junior Research Fellow, and Professor Peter Frankopan, Senior Research Fellow
