Our annual Telethon forms a vital part of the College’s fundraising calendar, and provides you with an opportunity to support today’s Worcester students – just as the students of yesterday helped to support you. We have a wonderful, enthusiastic team in place who are really looking forward to connecting with our global community of Old Members – you can meet some of them below!

The main goal of our Telethon is of course to seek much-needed financial support to allow us to continue to improve the College experience for our students whilst they are here at Worcester. However, another key purpose of the Telethon is to allow our student callers to engage with members of our alumni community so that you as an Old Member can hear first-hand what it is like to be a student today.

From Wednesday 19 to Monday 31 March, our calling team will make hundreds of calls to Old Members. If you do receive a call from one of enthusiastic students, we hope you will spare a few minutes to chat to them, and, if your circumstances allow, please consider making a gift to support Worcester.

Aine - 3rd year History

(pronounced Awn-ya)

Home town: Leeds.

Interests: If I’m not in the library, you’ll probably find me with my friends – or attempting (very badly) to play some College sport.

In the future: Post-graduation is still quite uncertain! Next year, I’m going to work in a secondary school, but I would love to work in policy or education.

Loves Worcester for: Obviously Worcester is gorgeous, but its vibrant social life sets it apart!

Worcester in three words: Friendly, scenic, sporty.

Anna - 2nd year History & Spanish

Home town: Newbury.

Interests: As a Choral Scholar, I am lucky enough to sing three times a week in Worcester’s beautiful chapel. I have also loved getting involved in College sports: I am lacrosse co-captain this year, and play for the football team. This year I have also been attending more Law Society events, which I have really enjoyed.

In the future: After my degree, I am hoping to complete a law conversion and spend some time working in Latin America. That said, I have loved Oxford so much that if the opportunity to stay for a Master’s (or maybe even longer…) came up, I wouldn’t say no!

Loves Worcester for: The incredible sense of community here: Worcester really feels like a second home, and everyone is so welcoming. The beautiful buildings and green spaces provide us with so many places to connect with each other, whether on the football pitch, in the library or in the College bar!

Worcester in three words: Inspiring, big-hearted, fun.

Pronouns: he/him.

Home town: Bath.

Interests: While in Oxford, I have been getting involved in a lot of sports societies, from the Boat Club (even being men’s captain in second year) to the cycling and now the triathlon club. This term I also decided to get involved in the Oxford student drama scene, starring in a play for five nights at the Burton Taylor, which has been really fun!

In the future: At the moment I am currently exploring many options in different employment sectors in the UK but also considering moving to mainland Europe for some extra sunshine.

Loves Worcester for: I have loved my time at Worcester and will be sad to see it come to an end in June. Only at Worcester do I think I could have found such close friends and had such a fantastic time with the Boat Club, in the grounds, and on the tennis courts. There are very few aspects of college life that I would change, and I cannot wait for the summer to begin enjoying the grounds in all their glory once more.

Worcester in three words: Buoying, beautiful, brilliant.

Euan - 2nd year Philosophy & Theology

Home town: Birmingham.

Interests: When I am not studying, I edit Cherwell as a deputy editor-in-chief and head of investigations, looking into such topics as the Oxford Union’s finances and animal testing at Oxford. Additionally, I enjoy producing plays under OUDS, and I am currently working on marketing Worcester’s upcoming Exhibition-004.

In the future: Whilst I am undecided about the specifics of my career, I am currently interested in international research and journalism. I look forward to getting further inspiration from talking to Worcester alumni about their careers!

Loves Worcester for: Being surrounded by talented people, given the resources and opportunities to focus on their interests. Worcester’s funding priorities ensure that students’ minimum requirements are met to perform in their degree, arts or sports. Fixtures, concerts and exhibitions all contribute to the richness of Worcester life that we all benefit from.

Worcester in three words: Warm, vibrant, green.

Pronouns: she/her.

Home town: London.

Interests:I love to play rugby and am the current social sec for Worcester women’s rugby. I also play football for the College and absolutely love the women’s team for being such a welcoming community! The game is fun, the students are so supportive and meeting the other girls on the team has probably been the best part of it all. Other than sport, I do play the violin, and I have just finished my two terms as a President of Oxford Women* in Government. I am also an active member of Oxford Women of Colour society, Oxford Climate Society and Oxford Women in Business, and thoroughly enjoy going to their events.

In the future: I am not entirely set on what I want to do in the future, but my ultimate aim is to help people. If I don’t do a Master’s next year, I would love to go into the Civil Service in some form and also travel.

Loves Worcester for:Worcester College is amazing to be a part of. The grounds are amazing, we have our sports pitches in college (which helps incredibly with training and matches), and the tutors and staff are all wonderful. There is nothing that a peaceful walk around Worcester lake cannot cure (or at least take your mind off).
