The Archives contains the administrative records of Worcester College, and personal papers of former members.
The collections include:
- Records relating to the administration of the College, including the statutes, minute books, accounts, and records of the admission of students.
- Records relating to the administration of the former College estates in Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire (the majority of which were sold by the College in 1919).
- Records of student clubs and societies, including the Buskins drama society, and the Worcester College Boat Club.
- Personal papers of a number of former Provosts, fellows, and undergraduates, including the papers of William Henry Hadow (1859-1937) and John Cecil Masterman (1891-1977).
There are no records relating to Gloucester College in the Archives, but a very small number of documents relating to Gloucester Hall have survived in the papers of Byrom Eaton (Principal, 1662-1692) and Richard Blechinden (Principal, 1712-1714).
The College’s collections of early printed books, pamphlets, prints, drawings and manuscripts, including the Clarke and Daniel papers, are held in the Library: please see our Special Collections pages for further information.
The Archives collects papers relating to College history, and the private papers of Old Members. We would be very interested to hear from anyone with material to donate.
Catalogues & visiting
Catalogues of some of our collections are available online at the link below. However, many of the collections in the Archives & Special Collections are uncatalogued, and there are older catalogues which are not yet ready to be put online; catalogues and research guides will be added as they become available. Please contact the Archivist for further information about uncatalogued material.
