Dr Tundi Agardy advances sustainability programme as Distinguished Visiting Fellow

Dr Tundi Agardy has joined Worcester College as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Hilary Term 2024 due to her academic leadership in environmental sustainability and exceptional service in guiding marine policy across intergovernmental institutions such as the World Bank and the United Nations Environment Programme.

Dr Agardy is an internationally renowned expert in environmental conservation with extensive field and policy experience across the globe. She is the head of Sound Seas, an independent multi-disciplinary group based in the Washington, D.C. area working at the nexus of science and policy for environmental problem-solving, with clients that include international think tanks, foundations, development banks, academic institutions, environmental groups, and individual nations struggling to implement sound marine management.

Formerly, Dr Agardy was Senior Scientist at WWF, subsequently founding Conservation International’s Global Marine Program, and the MARES Program at Forest Trends catalysing innovative financing for marine conservation through the use of environmental markets. She received her PhD in biological sciences and Master’s in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, was Marine Policy Fellow at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and is currently a Forest Trends Fellow.
