We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Timothy Hodgetts as the Kadas Senior Research Fellow in Geopolitics (Wildlife Conservation), who joined Worcester College on 1 April. He will be based at the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU) in Tubney House.

Tim joins us from the University’s School of Geography & the Environment, where he has been working on the ESRC-funded project ‘Good Germs Bad Germs: participatory metagenomics for the domestic microbiome’. Tim has also recently been a stipendiary lecturer in Human Geography at Jesus and St. Hilda’s Colleges. His academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics (Oxford), an MA in Environment, Policy and Society (The Open University), and both an MPhil and DPhil in Geography (Oxford) investigating enactments of connectivity in wildlife conservation. He previously had a career in finance, working for the investment bank UBS in various European locations.

Tim’s project will explore the geopolitical factors that facilitate or frustrate international wildlife conservation, with a particular focus on large mammals.
