Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra to premiere work of Worcester student
The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra will give a world premiere of movement 1 of “POLIN”, the second symphony of current student Sturdivant Adams (2016), on November 2, 2017 in the Sheldonian Theatre.
The piece won the orchestra’s 2017 Composers’ Competition. There will also be music by Professor Robert Saxton, Professor of Composition and Tutor in Music at Worcester. Established in 1998, the Oxford Philharmonic regularly collaborates with world-class artists including Anne-Sophie Mutter, Lang Lang, Valery Gergiev, Maxim Vengerov, and Vladimir Ashkenazy.
