Worcester gardens showcased in “Monty Don’s British Gardens”

Worcester is rightly famous for its sprawling gardens and the latest person to admire them is the BBC gardener and presenter Monty Don.

The gardens feature in Episode 5 of a new series on BBC Two focusing on exceptional gardens around the country: Monty Don’s British Gardens. Filmed in early September last year, the programme captures the Worcester grounds at the height of their summer bloom, with the exuberant Long Border, perfect lawns and even drunken ducks featuring prominently. The producers’ use of drone footage offers a new perspective on these familiar locations and frames gorgeous views across the Quad and Nuffield Lawn to the Provost’s Garden beyond.

The programme will be broadcast on BBC Two at 8pm on Friday 7th February. All episodes – including Worcester in Episode 5 – are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

At Worcester, the combination of immaculate horticultural care with the luxury of space and superb buildings creates an ideal of the British garden as a retreat from the busy world.
