Judith Buchanan elected Master of St Peter’s College
Professor Judith Buchanan, former Wilkinson Research Fellow and Assistant Dean at Worcester College (1995-2000), has been elected as the next Master of St Peter’s College, Oxford.
Professor Buchanan, a former Fulbright Scholar, matriculated at Worcester in 1991 to take a DPhil in English. In 1998, she became the first Director of Worcester’s Junior Year Abroad programme. For the first time, the programme gave students from American universities the opportunity to study alongside Worcester’s undergraduates and sample the tutorial system. It also provided the Junior Common Room with a more international perspective, which had customarily been the province of the MCR.
Professor Buchanan is currently Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of York, and will take over at St Peter’s on 1 October from Mark Damazer CBE, who is due to step down on 30 September 2019.
