John Parrington appears in Amazon Prime documentary
Fellow and Tutor in Medicine, Professor John Parrington, offers expert insight in the new Amazon Prime documentary Becoming Ian Brady.
Over three episodes, the documentary presents the complete story of Britain’s most notorious serial killer, Ian Brady. Between July 1963 and October 1965, Brady and his partner Myra Hindley murdered five children in the Greater Manchester area, devastating families and shocking the world.
Professor Parrington, who researches early embryogenesis and the development of key physiological events, shares his expert analysis of what led Ian Brady to commit his shocking crimes. Filmed in his office at Worcester, he talks about criminal psychopaths’ brains and what might be different about them, Brady’s own early life, and issues such as determinism and free will. Framing events through the evolution of Brady’s twisted desires, the series seeks to examine the impact of the murders and questions how they could have happened, asking whether Brady was born ‘evil’ or was a product of his time and environment.
The series is available to stream now on Amazon Prime.
