Emanuela Vai awarded UKRI Digital Innovation Research grant

Congratulations to Dr Emanuela Vai, Senior Research Fellow and Head of Research (Humanities), who has been awarded a UKRI EPSRC Horizon Agile Round 3.0 grant.

Her interdisciplinary project is entitled ‘Hybrid Relics’ and is based at the University’s Bate Collection of Musical Instruments, where she is Keeper. The Bate Collection will be a partner institution on the project with the University of Nottingham, led by Dr Alan Chamberlain (Computer Science). The project focuses on secular and sacred musical objects, using the concept of the ‘relic’ to develop and explore new and innovative ways to think about musical instruments, space, spirituality, sensorial experiences and the design of hybrid products.
