Black Histories and Futures

We are delighted to be co-presenting, with Lady Margaret Hall, the first event in the Black Histories and Futures series: a year-long series of events featuring presentations and performances from a range of scholars, activists, and artists whose work focuses on Black history and culture.

We recognise the marginalisation that Black history and achievements have faced in academia in the UK and elsewhere. Furthermore, the violence that Black people have experienced under European imperialism is insufficiently understood, taught, and discussed in white-majority academic spaces. The Black Histories and Futures series is one step LMH is taking towards increasing familiarity with these topics within our academic culture and beyond, and LMH and Worcester are delighted to that Worcester will be partnering with them for this first event. We Come with Pieces: Spoken Word from Barbados will take place on Thursday 12th November at 6pm (on Zoom), and will feature Adrian Green accompanied by Cyndi Celeste, Raquan Hinds, Irijah and Devon St. Hill.
