Windborne in concert
Hailed as ‘the most exciting vocal group in a generation,’ US vocal quartet Windborne is an internationally acclaimed group of vocal chameleons who specialise in close harmony singing, shifting effortlessly between different styles of traditional music.
Their music spans many continents and cultures, but they remain deeply rooted in American folk singing traditions. With a twenty-year background studying polyphonic music around the world, Windborne’s signature four-part vocal harmonies are their star attraction, illuminating and expanding on the profound power and variation of the human voice. They share a vibrant energy onstage – profoundly connected to each other, their music, and folk music’s longtime alliance with social activism, labour and civil rights, and other movements championing the oppressed, the poor, and the disenfranchised. Tonight they’ll also be singing songs from their latest release, To Warm The Winter’s Hearth.
