Worcester Energy Day

Join Dr Krishanu Dey, Junior Research Fellow, for Worcester’s first interdisciplinary sustainability research event during Oxford’s Green Action Week 2024.

Energy is one of the fundamental needs and rights for humanity across the world to lead a safe and prosperous life. The United Nations’ 7th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all by 2030. Therefore, from the perspective of achieving net zero emission, it is evident that green energy research is a need of the hour for securing our planet and it is a critical component in the overall sustainability spectrum.

In this event, our focus will be on both the aspects of energy conversion (solar, LEDs, solar fuels etc.) and energy storage (batteries, fuel cells etc.). We will hear about the recent advances in these fields from faculty experts, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students across the different departments at the University of Oxford. This will be done through a mix of oral and poster presentations (over tea/coffee/drinks) while keeping ample opportunities for discussion and networking. Worcester undergraduate students are also encouraged to submit posters if they have worked on and/or have any thoughts on the above theme.
