Wisteria in the Quad
Through May into early June, visitors, students and staff admired the amazing wisteria blooming around the main quad, but the hard work starts well before with the pruning of the climbers when the plants are dormant. Pruning always takes place it seems, on the coldest of winter days, when the gardeners wrapped in layers of clothing stand at the top of the ladders with their secateurs in hand and, with attention to every detail, prune each one. The climbing plants remain asleep through the winter and the early spring, regenerating after each year’s floriferous display.
