Open Days and Admission Visits

Visiting the College

The College is normally open to members of the public every day from 2pm to 4pm (except on some public holidays and during the College's Christmas closure period). There is no entry fee and no booking is required for individuals or groups of fewer than 6 people. On arrival, all visitors are asked to report to the Porters' Lodge, on the right just inside the main entrance.

Prospective applicants are welcome to look around the College grounds, free of charge, during the afternoon, and can also collect prospectuses from the College Lodge. You may visit at other times by prior arrangement, and staff in the Admissions Office are available and happy to help with any queries during office hours.

Schools and colleges wishing to arrange group visits are welcome to do so by contacting the Admissions and Access Officer, Claire Sims, on admissions@worc.ox.ac.uk or 01865 278391. Please see our Teachers and Schools page.

Occasionally the College may be closed for functions.

Open Days for Prospective Undergraduates

Worcester College will be holding Open Days on Wednesday 3 July, Thursday 4 July and Friday 20 September in 2019. The day gives prospective applicants to the university a chance to meet undergraduates and tutors, and to have a look around the college. Anyone who is thinking of applying to Oxford along with accompanying teachers, parents, or guardians is welcome to attend.

Our next Open Day will be taking place on Friday 20 September 2019. In solidarity with the Global Climate Strike, we are working hard to make the environmental costs of this Open Day as low as possible, and will be displaying information about our commitment to sustainability as a college on the day.

Our Open Day programme will be as follows:

9am - 10am - Early-bird session: An informal Q&A session with the Tutor for Admissions  - JCR

10am - 5pm - We will be running regular tours of the college with current students, and the Admissions and Access Officer will be available to answer questions - From the Cloisters

12.35pm - 1pm - Welcome and general talk by the Tutor for Admissions and the Tinsley Outreach Fellow - Nazrin Shah Auditorium

1pm - 1.45pm -  Panel discussions with subject tutors and current students from the Sciences, Arts and Social Sciences, and Maths. Further details are available to download to the right of this page.

Coming to an Open Day is the best way to find out more about studying at Oxford but you are welcome to visit us at any time. Please see our suggestions on how to plan your visit if you would like to come at another time.

A Greener Open Day

The Open Day on Friday 20th September falls during the proposed Global Climate Strike. To reduce the Open Day's impact on the environment, we will be:

  • requesting that staff and students (as well as visitors, where possible) travel on public transport, by foot or on their bikes to the Open Day
  • making 'hydration stations' available so that visitors can fill up their re-usable water bottles, to reduce our reliance on plastic
  • going plastic free
  • making recycling stations available for printed materials that visitors no longer require to be disposed of responsibly
  • sharing information about the ways in which our colleagues' research contributes to new approaches to climate change and the environment

We encourage you to join un where possible, by bringing along a re-usable water bottle, travelling by public transport, using the information that we will provide on QR codes and posters rather than in printed form - and, if you do take printed copies of material, by recycling it at the end of the day.
