Students listening to a lecture

Thinking about Oxford... for Muslim Students

This year Worcester College will be running a series of events for Muslim students at state schools in the UK in year 11 and 12 who are considering applying to Oxford or Cambridge. The events will take place in collaboration with Oxford University's Islamic Society, and we will be joined by current University of Oxford students and members of staff to discuss all aspects of applying to and studying at Oxford University. This year the programme will be offered entirely virtually (via Zoom), though we hope to be able to arrange a visit to Oxford (and to Worcester College) in July if the COVID-19 safety restrictions allow this.

The programme will run weekly (4:30 - 6:00pm) for four weeks after the end of Ramadan, and will cover the following topics:

19th May– What is university like? An introduction to student life, faith and studying at Oxford University

26th May – What can you study at Oxford and what kinds of careers will it lead to?

[One week break for the school holidays]

9th June – How much does university cost, and how do students pay for it?

16th June – How do you get in to a university like Oxford?

July - Visit to Oxford (if possible)

23rd August - Application Preparation Workshop (for year 12s only)
