Refurbishment of the Hall
Worcester's beautifully renovated Dining Hall was honoured with one of the coveted Oxford Preservation Trust Awards of 2018. Thanks to the huge generosity of Lord John Sainsbury and the Linbury Trust, the refurbishment of the Hall was started in October 2017 and successfully completed by May 2018. At an award-giving ceremony later that year, on 6 November, the Trust awarded the College with a plaque for ‘Dining Hall Acoustic Improvement and Internal Refurbishment’, recognising the contributions made by Benfield & Loxley (Builders) Ltd, Campbell Smith & Co Ltd and Carter Jonas.
The Hall, which reopened at the start of Trinity term, has already hosted a number of celebration dinners for Old Members. It had not been refurbished since 1966 when it was controversially restored to the original Wyatt scheme.
