Message From The Provost To All Staff & Students Following The EU Referendum

29 June 2016

Worcester is a highly inclusive, cosmopolitan community, in which many valued members of staff, both academic and non-academic, and many students, are citizens of EU countries. At this time of uncertainty, I want to echo the admirable words of the Prime Minister in his resignation speech when he reminded us that there will be no immediate change to residency status or travel arrangements. There is no doubt that the result is a significant challenge to the College, as it is to all higher education institutions in the UK, given how much we depend on our colleagues and co-workers from within the EU and how extraordinarily important our EU students, teachers and researchers are to our intellectual and social community - as are the opportunities for our UK students to study in Europe. I simply want to assure you that the College, the University and the wider academic sector will do everything we can to preserve these traditions and protect your interests.
