Visits to Worcester

We are committed to encouraging the brightest students to apply to the University of Oxford, irrespective of background. In addition to our regular summer Open Days, we arrange visits each year from school or college groups wishing to come to Oxford for a day. We are keen to continue to expand our links with schools and colleges, in particular those with little or no experience of sending applicants to Oxford. Programmes are put together in discussion with each school or college, and according to the age-group of those attending (usually year 10 upwards). These events are free of charge and a typical programme might be as follows:

10.30am: Arrive

10.45am: Talk on admissions/studying at the University of Oxford

11.30am: Tour of the College/city centre

12.15pm: Informal chat with current Worcester students

12.30pm: Lunch in Hall

1.30pm: Academic Session at one of the University Museums/Interview workshop

2.45pm: Questions and Answers, completion of feedback questionnaire

3.00pm: Depart

Please contact the Admissions and Access Officer, Alison Attwell, on 01865 278391 or email admissions@worc.ox.ac.uk if you are interested in bringing a group to Worcester, or if you would like any other information on Oxford admissions - we would be very pleased to hear from you.

In addition, the College is open to visitors between 2pm and 5pm most days (excluding certain bank holidays). For individuals or groups of fewer than 6 people, no booking is required. On arrival, visitors should report to the Porters' Lodge at the main entrance to the College.

Visits to schools and colleges

We are very happy to visit schools and colleges to talk to prospective students and/or staff about studying at Oxford and the admissions process. Where possible, we would also aim to involve current Worcester undergraduates. These visits are tailored according to discussions with the school or college.

Please contact the Admissions and Access Officer, Alison Attwell, on 01865 278391 or email admissions@worc.ox.ac.uk if you would like us to visit to your school or college, or if you would like any other information on Oxford admissions - we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Regional Outreach

As part of the University of Oxford's ongoing commitment to engage with schools and colleges, it has developed a programme to simplify communication between the University and its colleges and all schools and colleges in the United Kingdom. Each Oxford college is linked to a group of Local Authority areas to ensure that each school and college has a first point of contact within the University.

Worcester is linked with the following Local Authorities:

Bradford
Calderdale
Kirklees
Leeds
Northamptonshire
Wakefield

This scheme is not intended to replace any existing contact a school or college may have with a particular college or department in Oxford. Worcester remains committed to continuing its access and outreach work with schools and colleges in other areas of the country. However, for those institutions without an existing link to Oxford, we hope that this scheme will improve the communication of information and good advice for both teachers and students.

Further information on the University's Regional Outreach scheme can be found on the University website here.
