Refurbishment of the Hall

Worcester's beautifully renovated Dining Hall won the Oxford Preservation Trust award in the category of ‘Large Building Conservation’. Thanks to the huge generosity of Lord John Sainsbury and the Linbury Trust, the refurbishment of the Hall was successfully completed. At an award-giving ceremony on 6 November, OPT awarded the College with a plaque for ‘Dining Hall Acoustic Improvement and Internal Refurbishment’.

The Hall, which reopened at the start of Trinity term, has already hosted a number of celebration dinners for Old Members. It had not been refurbished since 1966 when it was controversially restored to the original Wyatt scheme. We appointed contractors Benfield and Loxley, local contractors who have worked with a number of Oxford colleges, to start the project in October 2017.
