The medical needs of all visiting students who are studying at Worcester College for a full year are covered under the UK National Health Service, and registration with the College Doctor on arrival is essential for this coverage. This cover applies to out-patient medical treatment, and private medical insurance is necessary to cover any in-patient hospital treatments. Any visiting students who are at Worcester for either Michaelmas term or Hilary/Trinity terms only must provide their own private medical insurance for all of their medical needs. Guidance on these matters is available from Butler University's Institute for Study Abroad, or for Princeton students, from their university's Study Abroad Office. Worcester has a college nurse on duty on weekday mornings, and there is a college dentist available for emergency treatments.

Some students find that university life can be stressful, particularly as newcomers to Oxford, and Worcester College is very concerned to ensure that there is proper support available to anyone who needs it. The well-being of our students is extremely important to us, and so there are many avenues of confidential pastoral care open to visiting students. The Director of the Visiting Student Programme is available to discuss any matters causing concern, and the college doctor or nurse can be consulted about medical issues. All discussions with medical practitioners are bound by the normal rules of medical confidentiality.  Other individuals that students might wish to consult are: the Dean and the Assistant Dean, the Tutor for Women, the Chaplain, or any of the college's student advisors. There is also a University Counselling Service that is open to visiting students.
