The services at Worcester College are conducted according to the rites of the Church of England, but anyone of whatever faith is very welcome to attend, and Christians of all denominations are able to receive communion. All services are open to members of the public. If the entrance to the College is closed, visitors should ring the bell to ask for admission to the Chapel.
This is the major service of the week and consists of a series of responses, a psalm, readings from the Old and New Testaments, an anthem, prayers and a sermon. The service usually lasts an hour and there is opportunity to meet the preacher afterwards. The boys' choir sing at this service.
The choir sing the evening office of Evensong, which is a shortened version of the College Evensong and does not include a sermon.
The Eucharist or Holy Communion or the Mass is celebrated every Thursday. This consists of Bible readings, a homily, prayers and the distribution of the body and blood of Christ. The mixed choir sing parts of the service but there are also hymns for the congregation to sing.
The ancient monastic night time office of Compline is sung by a member of the choir every Wednesday night at 9 pm in the Chapel.
Further information about the Services, the Chaplain, the Chapel's History, and the Choirs can be found on the Chapel website.
